Tell Them From Me!

Dear Sunningdale Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

On Monday, April 18, you will receive information from the Halton District School Board inviting you to participate in our annual "Tell Them From Me" Parent Survey.  Sunningdale School staff and students from Grades 4 to 8 will be completing a similar survey during school time.  The information provided from these surveys allows us to reflect on the work being done at Sunningdale School.

We would truly like to hear from the parents/guardians of our students in order to provide us with additional information about how we can work together to provide the best possible educational experience for your child(ren). All surveys are completely anonymous.

The TTFM Parent Survey has been set up for all Halton schools and the survey will be open from April 18 to May 13, 2016.  Each School is being provided with a Parent TTFM notice letter that contains a unique login and password.  Once you receive the email with this information, the survey can be accessed at  Sunningdale's school-specific Parent TTFM Notice letter containing the school's username/password will also sent home with your child(ren) on mail day (Thursday, April 21), as a reminder.

Please take this opportunity to provide us with valuable feedback.

                                                                      With sincere thanks,

                                                                      Mr. L. Silvestri, Principal
                                                                      Mrs. A. DiRoma, Vice-Principal

Daily Reminders

Parking Lot Reminder

As Sunningdale Public School continues to grow, we have limited parking spots for staff.  It is for this reason that we continue to ask parents to park on one of the neighbouring side streets when dropping off or picking up children from school.  Please be respectful of staff on supervision who are looking out for everyone's best interests.  Our wonderful crossing guard will make sure everyone crosses Oxford Avenue safely.  This is a reminder that the front and back parking lots are for staff parking only.  Thank you for respecting this request.

If your child is part of the before or after school YMCA program, you will receive a reminder from the organizers reinforcing that YMCA pick up and drop off is done strictly at the back of the school.  You can use the back parking lot for drop off until 8:15 a.m., after which we ask you to use the side streets (and then walk your child to the back entrance) to allow Sunningdale staff to park in their designated spots when they arrive for the day.  When picking up your child(ren) from the YMCA program, entry to the back parking lot is not available until 4:15 p.m. in order to ensure the safety of students leaving the school at the end of the day.

We kindly ask all parents/visitors to please respect our safe entry process and sign in at the main office upon entry into our school.  We ask all parents/visitors not to proceed into classrooms during school hours in order to prevent disruption of the learning environment.  Parents must use the main office as a pick up and drop off point for students during school hours, and not go directly to classrooms.  If picking up your child prior to dismissal, we ask that this be done prior to 3:30 p.m. as end of day procedures do not permit us to to page students after this time.  Visitor badges must be worn by all parents/visitors at all times when volunteering in the school.  We thank everyone for supporting our safe entry process at Sunningdale Public School.

Morning Supervision
This is a reminder that no students should be arriving prior to 9:00 a.m.  This is when staff supervision begins.  At this time, students will be admitted directly into the school upon their arrival (free entry).

Bussed Students
Our buses continue to use our front parking lot bus loop for drop-off and pick-up.  In the morning, students are dropped off at the front entrance, enter the school immediately by the front doors and proceed to their respective classrooms/portables.  After school, students in Grade 1 and 2 line up inside and are the first students to be escorted onto the buses.  Grades 3 to 8 students will exit the school using the back doors, as per our regular dismissal routines, and then assemble into our supervised outdoor bus lines.

Student Pickup
The following are procedures for picking up your child(ren) at the end of the school day:

We remind parents that the front entrance area is not a designated pickup area for students who are picked up at the end of the day.  Students are not permitted to wait in the front hall for pick up.  Again, this is a very busy time of day for staff and students, and parents must not be walking their child(ren) through this area while buses are picking up students.  If parents are picking up children at regular dismissal time, you are reminded that student pickup is at the back of the school where teacher supervision ensures student safety.  Please park your car on one of the side streets, and walk to the back of the school to pick up your child(ren) from the teacher supervised area on the blacktop.  All students who are walking home or being picked up will exit via the back doors.

If picking up children throughout the day, we ask that you to come to the main office and wait there.  At your request, office staff will ensure your child is called to the office.

Thank you and merci in advance for your support and understanding in keeping our students safe at school.
